Silchar DSA’s online coaching courses get good response – Barak Bulletin

Due to the onslaught of the coronavirus pandemic, all kinds of sports activities of the Silchar District Sports Association (DSA) have been halted. The doors of Silchar’s DSA have been locked for quite a long time. Amid such situation, DSA cricket academy has launched online coaching courses to keep players mentally fit in such situations. This online course started on May 30.

Silchar DSA also held online classes during the lockdown last year. Now the DSA’s cricket branch has taken the same action given the gravity of the situation. So far this online class has had a pretty good response. The association organized this online course three days a week. They take place on Sunday, Wednesday and Saturday morning.

A total of 32 trainees participated in the online course on the first day. After that, a good number of trainees also participated in the other two sessions of the week. This online course takes place in two sessions three days a week. The first session starts at 7:30 a.m. and the second at 8:30 a.m. The academy coaches form a total of four groups in two sessions with two separate groups each. Online classes will be taught by Debajyoti Paul, Uttam Roy and Shubham Deb. Biplob Sharma Purkayastha is the technical coach.

The coaches hosted this online course from the association’s cricket pavilion. However, this was not possible on Saturday morning due to rain. As a result, all four coaches had to give lessons from their homes. In this online course, coaches also give physical advice while discussing various technical aspects of cricket. They also teach trainees how to stay in shape by also doing light physical exercise indoors.

Cricket Secretary Niranjan Das said online coaching is getting a pretty good response. And they are interested in continuing this online course until the situation returns to normal. He said: “We have organized this online course to keep players mentally fit. Two sessions are held three days a week. Players of different age groups are trained together in two separate groups. We want to continue this class until the situation returns to normal.

In the online course, players are given various physical exercises including jogging and stretching. Niranjan Das said the main purpose of this online course is to keep players mentally involved in cricket even if they are away from the field.
