SAI-AIFF team up to launch online coaching program during lockdown | Soccer News

NEW DELHI: As the country is under lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Football Federation of India (AIFF) in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) has launched an online coach education program at from next Monday.
The 13-day refresher course which ends May 2 will be open to all SAI and AIFF licensed coaches, and around 400-500 coaches are expected to join online.
The course will see participants attend sessions on a range of topics, from injury prevention to video analysis, principles of coaching age group teams, and much more.
“It is a great initiative by AIFF and SAI to bring together coaches from all over India for learning experience. It will refresh their thinking process on football coaching,” said Savio Medeira , AIFF Head of Coach Education and former India international.
The opening session of the program will be led by Medeira himself, with successive sessions held by several AIFF instructors, including current senior men’s national team head coach Igor Stimac, the technical director of the ‘AIFF Isac Doru, among others.
The AIFF previously held online coaching seminars for AIFF coach education instructors, as well as online tutoring courses for referees.
Medeira, also a former India manager, explained that coaches will gain a lot of insight on how to manage players at the top level when they learn from someone like Stimac.

Previously, the AIFF launched online tutoring courses for referees across the country, in addition to holding three webinars with the aim of reflecting on the methodologies applied in its coaching courses.
