Apple introduces new online courses and certifications for Apple device support, deployment and management for on-demand careers

Apple issued a press release this morning in which they state that the demand for support staff and skilled technical personnel within the company is increasing, with jobs in computer and information systems in particular expected to grow faster. than the average for all occupations from 2020 to 2030. As businesses expand their use of technology, employees are demanding to use iPhones, iPads, and Macs at work, driving an increased need for IT professionals. To help meet this growing demand, Apple today launched professional training and updated certifications for IT support and management. The training has been completely redesigned and moved to an online, self-paced format. Users can demonstrate their skills with two new exams and earn certification from Apple.

“More people are using Macs, iPads and iPhones to do their best work, and the demand for Apple-certified IT professionals has never been greater,” said Susan Prescott, vice president of Enterprise Marketing. and Apple Education. “Apple Career Education helps anyone interested in technology, whether changing careers or upgrading their skills, pursue well-paying IT jobs with certifications that will stand out to potential employers. We believe strongly in inclusion in technology, which is why new courses are self-paced and available for free, and we work to ensure that the ability to pay is not a barrier to earning Apple certification.

Two new Apple professional training courses—Apple Device Support and Apple Deployment and Management—are available today at training.apple.com. The lessons are sequential and build on skills and concepts as the user progresses. At the end of each course, new certification exams are available to demonstrate the skills acquired at each level with corresponding digital badges from Apple. Each exam costs $149, and the certification can be displayed on resumes, online profiles, and job boards, helping users stand out in job searches and employers to find qualified candidates.

Apple device management and security company Jamf said its community of professionals who manage Apple products at work has grown more than 150% since 2017 to more than 100,000 members.3 And companies like Ford are looking to hire talent to manage their Apple products.

Through articles and guided exercises, the course covers the tools, services, and best practices used by a help desk professional, technical coordinator, or service provider for Mac, iPhone, and iPad users in a organization. After completing approximately 14 hours of learning content, users can take an exam to earn the Apple Certified Support Professional certification.

After completing approximately 14 hours of learning content, users can take an exam to earn the Apple Certified Support Professional certification.

The second level of training in the IT series is the Apple Deployment and Management course, which covers how to configure, manage, and secure Apple products using mobile device management (MDM). Through approximately 13 hours of content, users will cover developing a deployment strategy, using Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager, and setting up devices with an MDM solution. Upon passing the exam, users will receive the Apple Certified IT Professional certification.

After going through approximately 13 hours of content and passing an exam, users will receive the Apple Certified IT Professional certification.

To help those entering the workforce or changing careers, Apple partners with community colleges and universities to offer on-campus preparation courses for the Apple Certified IT Professional badge. Through its Community Education Initiative (CEI), Apple will provide scholarships to cover the cost of exams for participating students at its CEI partner institutions. Apple first worked with Austin Community College in Austin, Texas to deliver the Apple Deployment Course in early 2020, and is expanding to Maricopa Community Colleges in Chandler and Mesa, Arizona this summer with additional other CEI schools to be announced. Ed Farm, a Birmingham, Alabama-based nonprofit, will also be offering Apple Certification exam prep classes this summer through the association’s ongoing partnership with Apple.

Apple has also partnered with the Mac Admins Foundation to ensure additional access to new Apple exams. With Apple’s subscription, the foundation will provide vouchers to applicants in financial need. As a new 501(c)(3) organization, two key principles of the Mac Admins Foundation are to create a welcoming and accessible organization to grow the profession and to maintain affordable access to all community resources.
